Pros & Cons

What works
  • The beds are genuinely comfortable, making it easy to unwind after a busy day exploring Amsterdam.
  • Breakfast offers a diverse selection, ensuring you can fuel up for your adventures without breaking the bank.
  • The staff are exceptionally accommodating; they went above and beyond, even extending restaurant hours for late arrivals.
  • Proximity to the airport is a major plus, especially if you're catching an early flight or arriving late at night.
  • The bus stop right outside the hotel simplifies getting around the city, providing easy access to central attractions without the hassle of parking.
What doesn't
  • Some rooms have cleanliness issues, which can be off-putting, especially if you're expecting a fresh space to relax in.
  • The temperature control in the rooms can leave you feeling chilly, making it uncomfortable during colder months.
  • Amenities are lacking; for example, the absence of a hotel information booklet leaves you guessing about essential details.
  • The outdoor areas could use some attention, as litter and unkempt spaces detract from the overall experience.

8Excellent

It was convenient as it was a short distance with uber to the airport.

The breakfast was great. And so was dinner.
The property outside could use some cleaning up, like picking up the trash.

4Poor
Internet connection is too bad. There is no door in the shower and room is too small.
Guests consistently praise the Mercure Hotel Amsterdam West for its cleanliness and the friendliness of the staff. However, complaints frequently focus on the hotel's location, which lacks safe pedestrian access, and issues with internet connectivity and limited dining options.

Who Should Stay Here?

Travelers looking for a solid base to explore Amsterdam will find value here. The comfortable beds and generous breakfast help you recharge for daily adventures. The hotel's proximity to the airport is also a bonus for those with early flights or late arrivals. Friendly staff add a layer of comfort, ensuring that your needs are met without fuss. However, those who prioritize cleanliness and well-maintained facilities should consider other options. Rooms with cleanliness issues and lack of proper temperature control can diminish the overall experience. If you seek upscale amenities and well-kept outdoor spaces, this hotel might not meet your standards.

The Verdict

Our Take

The Mercure Hotel Amsterdam West has its strengths, particularly in comfortable beds and a generous breakfast that won't strain your wallet. The welcoming staff add to the experience, especially for late arrivals. However, cleanliness issues in some rooms and inadequate temperature control can detract from the overall comfort. If you prioritize a good night's sleep and convenience to the airport, this hotel is a solid choice, but don't expect perfection.
