Pros & Cons

What works
  • The staff is genuinely friendly, making you feel welcome from the moment you check in. A warm smile and helpful attitude can make a long travel day much more pleasant.
  • Breakfast options are solid, with a variety of hot and cold items to kickstart your day. When you're staying in a busy city, a convenient breakfast saves time and keeps everyone fueled.
  • The location is conveniently close to the United Center, which makes attending concerts or games a breeze. You can easily walk there, avoiding the hassle of finding parking downtown.
  • The rooms are spacious, providing plenty of room for families or groups traveling together. This extra space can really enhance your comfort during your stay.
  • Free coffee and water in the lobby are a nice touch, especially for guests who appreciate a caffeine fix or hydration after a long day of exploring.
  • The hotel is relatively new, so facilities feel fresh and well-maintained. Staying somewhere that has modern amenities can significantly enhance your overall experience.
  • There are various dining options within walking distance, which means you won’t have to venture far for a good meal after a long day.
What doesn't
  • Cleanliness can be hit or miss, which may leave you feeling uneasy about the overall upkeep. When you check into a hotel, you expect a certain level of cleanliness, and anything less can be disappointing.
  • High parking fees are a downside, especially for guests who are already paying for accommodations. It can add a hefty extra charge to your overall budget, making the stay less affordable.
  • The breakfast experience can sometimes fall short if items aren’t restocked quickly enough. When you have a limited breakfast window, waiting for food can be frustrating, especially for hungry kids.
  • Some rooms may have maintenance issues, like non-functioning fridges, which can be inconvenient. Access to a working fridge is essential for storing snacks or leftovers during your stay.
  • The parking lot can be poorly maintained, with snow not being cleared promptly during winter. This can lead to a frustrating arrival experience when you’re trying to find a safe place to park.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. I liked that they texted me to check in with me each day about our stay. The room was spacious and clean. We were very comfortable there. There were plenty of options for breakfast in the morning and lots of food options in the vicinity.
The only downfall was having to pay for parking.

Guests consistently praise the Hampton Inn & Suites Chicago Medical District UIC for its cleanliness, friendly staff, and convenient location near the United Center and various dining options. However, a common complaint revolves around the additional cost of parking, which some guests found frustrating.

Who Should Stay Here?

This hotel is a solid choice for families and groups wanting to explore Chicago without breaking the bank. The spacious rooms can comfortably accommodate multiple guests, making it easier to settle in after a day of sightseeing. The friendly staff and hearty breakfast options provide a welcoming start to busy days filled with events at the nearby United Center. If you're attending a concert or game, the hotel's location is a major perk, allowing you to walk to the venue without the hassle of parking. Travelers who prioritize cleanliness or are sensitive to maintenance issues might want to consider other options. The variable cleanliness standards could be a turn-off for those seeking a meticulously kept environment. Additionally, the high parking fees can strain budgets, especially for guests already paying for accommodations. If you require consistent amenities, like a functioning fridge, this may not be the best fit for you.
