Pros & Cons

What works
  • The staff provides excellent service, making you feel welcomed and attended to during your stay. This personal touch can significantly enhance your overall experience, especially after a long day of sightseeing.
  • The location is great, just a short walk from the Olympia and the tube station, making it easy to explore London. Being close to transportation means you spend less time commuting and more time enjoying the city.
  • Breakfast is diverse and well-prepared, featuring a variety of options to suit different tastes. Friendly staff like Mrs. Happy go the extra mile to ensure your dining experience is enjoyable, which can set a positive tone for your day.
  • The spacious rooms offer a comfortable environment, especially for families or those traveling with children. Having distinct areas can help maintain privacy and make it easier to manage bedtimes.
  • The rooms come equipped with kitchens and a self-serve market, allowing you to prepare meals or snacks at your convenience. This feature is particularly beneficial for longer stays or for those who prefer home-cooked meals.
  • The Tesco superstore next door provides a quick and easy option for groceries, drinks, or snacks. This proximity makes it simple to stock up on essentials without having to venture far.
What doesn't
  • The elevator situation can be frustrating, as only two medium-sized elevators are available for a hotel of this scale. Long waits, especially during busy breakfast hours, can cut into your morning routine and add stress to check-out times.
  • Housekeeping errors have been reported, such as the occasional oversight in room maintenance. This can detract from the overall cleanliness and comfort of your stay, which is crucial for a pleasant experience.
  • Some rooms face a Tesco delivery entrance, leading to noise disturbances from trucks at all hours. If you're a light sleeper, this could disrupt your rest, impacting your overall enjoyment of the hotel.
  • Thin walls can lead to a lack of privacy as you can hear conversations and activities from neighboring rooms. This is particularly problematic for families with young children who may have difficulty sleeping amidst the noise.
  • Guests have experienced issues with reception, including long wait times for check-in and errors with room keys. This can create unnecessary frustration, particularly after a long journey.

10Exceptional

Second time we have stayed at the hotel, and as per the first time found it very welcoming and comfortable

We very much enjoyed our stay at the Marriott hotel. Our room was comfortable with two large beds, one being a sofa bed. The kitchenette had everything we needed and we were very comfortable during our three nights day. The breakfast was great and although busy, we always found a table. Would definitely recommend the hotel to friends and family. The staff were very friendly and couldn’t do enough to help.

Guests consistently praise the Residence Inn by Marriott London Kensington for its spacious rooms, friendly staff, and convenient location near public transport and a Tesco superstore. However, many guests express frustration with the busy breakfast area and some noise issues from nearby deliveries, indicating a few areas that could use improvement.

Who Should Stay Here?

Families and travelers who appreciate spacious accommodations will find value at the Residence Inn by Marriott London Kensington. The well-prepared breakfast and attentive staff create a welcoming atmosphere, which is especially beneficial after a day of exploring the city. Proximity to public transport makes it easy to access major attractions, allowing guests to maximize their time in London. However, light sleepers or those seeking a quiet retreat should look elsewhere. Noise from the delivery entrance and thin walls can disrupt rest, and the slow elevators may frustrate guests during peak hours. Travelers prioritizing a seamless experience may find the occasional housekeeping issues and noise disturbances detract from their overall enjoyment.

The Verdict

Our Take

The Residence Inn by Marriott London Kensington offers a strong blend of excellent service, a convenient location, and spacious rooms, making it a solid choice for families and travelers alike. The diverse breakfast options and attentive staff enhance the experience, though the limited elevators and occasional housekeeping oversights can be frustrating. If you can secure a room away from the delivery entrance, you are likely to enjoy a restful stay. Overall, I recommend this hotel for those seeking comfort and accessibility in London.
