Pros & Cons

What works
  • The location puts you just a short walk from the beach and local restaurants, making it easy to enjoy Miami's vibrant atmosphere without needing a car.
  • Friendly staff members like Damien can really enhance your stay, offering personalized attention that makes you feel welcome and valued.
  • For the price point, some guests find decent value, especially if you prioritize location and staff over luxury amenities.
  • The spacious rooms provide a comfortable space to relax after a day of exploring, allowing for a more enjoyable stay.
  • Access to nearby attractions means you can easily explore South Beach, which is perfect for those who want to experience Miami's nightlife and culture.
What doesn't
  • Cleanliness issues are frequent, and many guests report that rooms feel neglected, which can be a major turn-off after a long day of travel.
  • Poor room quality is evident with outdated furniture and fixtures, making it hard to feel at home or comfortable during your stay.
  • The high price for the value received can leave you feeling cheated, especially when competing hotels offer better amenities for a similar rate.
  • Lack of basic amenities like a refrigerator or coffee maker can be inconvenient, especially for those who prefer to prepare their own snacks or beverages.
  • The absence of an elevator can be a hassle, particularly for guests with heavy luggage or mobility issues, which makes check-in and check-out less enjoyable.

10Exceptional

Great time for great oldies😘

Room was great but the real highlight is our host Damien. He went out of his way to accommodate us , which was not especially easy given some of our health/age related issues. Beside Damien the other staff were always friendly and helpful as well. We’re planning our next trip to Miami in part because of our experience this hotel provided.

Its price point states what the place is…needs some love!

Great location!
Place has unlimited potential. Just needs some remodeling. TV ridiculously small, no coffee pot, and the bathroom was old and needs updating. Place needs a good renovation to make things work…metal strips on the door, doors difficult to close, no towel bars in the bathroom, tiny sink…

Poor service

We from Australia stayed there 4 nights loved the area around ,well we were greeted by a grumpy older woman not very helpfull took ages to fill in details found out we were on second floor no lift very bad start, asked for help as we both females had 2 heavy cases we had been on a 14 day cruise, told no one to carry luggage to 2 lots concrete stairs, so no help there was a struggle, room was big but basic, door was warped very hard to close, bathroom was a health hazard very slippery bath in shower terrible water in drain kept coming back up with hairs disgusting, no shelf for toiletries, sink was loose room was very bright at night no blockout blinds Then told by front desk grumpy woman couple times we had to pay resort fee for chairs and umberella we did not want to use, spoke to other desk people found out it was already paid when we booked grumpy woman never apologised, on arrival they took out $218.00, 2 weeks later still waiting to get the money back. Travel agent looking into it terrible service not good enough, be warned. Kim and Amy

1 star not 4 star😱

Hi, this hotel was booked by travel agents Destination2, as a 1 night stopover before a cruise, we arrived at 10-30pm, we were charged 35 dollars service charge (we were not told this) we were on the 2nd floor, with 2 heavy cases, no lift, we had to drag the cases up the stairs, only when we go into the room it was poorly light with one light not working, the room looked very tired in the dark, 2 single beds, we checked the sheets and they looked clean, but we would shower as it wasn’t in great condition, when we woke up in the morning we saw how poor the room was, lots of holes filled but not painted, most of the furniture had been hand painted and the paint was peeling, there were holes in the curtains, the sette was badly stained and there was no facility to make a drink or anything to drink it out of. I have added a selection of photos, we complained directly to the hotel through their customer survey but apologised for the condition of the room but offered no refund. This is a 1 star hotel not a 4 star.
Guest reviews for Aqua Hotel & Suites highlight two main themes. On the positive side, many guests praise the friendly and helpful staff, particularly mentioning individuals like Damien and Santa for their exceptional service. Conversely, numerous complaints center around the hotel's need for significant renovations, with guests pointing out outdated rooms, poor bathroom conditions, and lack of basic amenities like coffee pots. Overall, while the staff receives consistent acclaim, the hotel itself falls short in upkeep and modernization.

Who Should Stay Here?

Budget-conscious travelers who prioritize location over luxury will find value here. The hotel's proximity to the beach and local dining options makes it an attractive choice for those wanting to immerse themselves in Miami's vibrant scene without the need for a car. Guests who appreciate attentive staff, like Damien, will enjoy a personal touch that enhances the overall experience. Spacious rooms provide enough comfort for those looking to unwind after a day of exploration. However, if cleanliness and room quality are non-negotiables for you, this hotel may not be the right fit. Frequent reports of neglected rooms and outdated furnishings suggest that some guests may feel disappointed. Additionally, those seeking essential amenities like a refrigerator or coffee maker should look elsewhere, as Aqua Hotel & Suites lacks these basic conveniences.

The Verdict

Our Take

Aqua Hotel & Suites offers a great location and friendly staff, which can make your stay enjoyable. However, frequent cleanliness issues and outdated furnishings detract from the overall experience. If you prioritize location and personal service over modern comforts, this hotel may suit your needs. Otherwise, consider other options in Miami Beach that offer better amenities for a similar price.
