Pros & Cons

What works
  • The staff are genuinely friendly and helpful, which makes a big difference when you have questions or need recommendations about navigating Rome.
  • The hotel is conveniently located near the Vatican, allowing you to easily explore one of the city's major attractions without exhausting yourself with long walks.
  • You get good value for your money, especially considering the spacious rooms and the amenities provided, which can be hard to find in a city known for its high prices.
  • The breakfast features a nice variety of items, ensuring you can fuel up before a day of sightseeing, with options that cater to different tastes.
  • The rooms offer great views, giving you a lovely backdrop to your stay and a reminder of the beauty of Rome every time you glance out the window.
  • Secure parking is available, which is a huge plus if you're traveling by car and want peace of mind about your vehicle's safety.
  • The hotel maintains a tranquil atmosphere, allowing for a restful retreat after the hustle and bustle of the city.
What doesn't
  • Cleanliness can be hit or miss, with some guests reporting issues that can detract from an otherwise pleasant experience.
  • Room temperature control is problematic, as the air conditioning is often locked in a setting that may not accommodate your comfort, leaving some guests feeling too warm.
  • The breakfast, while varied, is basic and may not meet the expectations of those used to more elaborate morning spreads.
  • While the location is good for the Vatican, it can feel a bit far from other major sights, requiring extra planning if you want to see more of the city.
  • Some rooms have issues like odors or malfunctioning wardrobes, which can disrupt your stay and diminish the overall experience.

Wintery escape to Rome!

Location was great. Walking distance to local shopping centre and eateries. Secure parking available. Great breakfast selection & good quality. Single rooms are spacious. Cleaning staff are helpful and courteous.
Air conditioning was locked in an automated controlled setting-room too over-heated. The bar fridge not working. Fridge items were warm to the touch.

8Excellent
I liked the location that was close to the Vatican, possible to go on foot. The breakfast was very good with many options of food and tea. I liked that they provide cups and dishes of superheroes for children, my son was very happy with that.
I didn't like that the toilet had a bad smell all the time and the door of the wardrobe was very difficult to open and it fell.

It was a pleasant stay overall!

It was clean and pleasant overall. Not too far away from restaurants or places to shop.
It was a bit expensive. About €100 or more a night.
Guests consistently praise the hotel's location, breakfast selection, and helpful staff, highlighting the convenience and quality of the amenities. However, recurring complaints include issues with room conditions, such as poor air conditioning and unpleasant odors in the bathroom, as well as concerns about value for money.

Who Should Stay Here?

This hotel suits travelers who prioritize proximity to the Vatican and appreciate a friendly, helpful staff. If you enjoy spacious rooms and value for money in a city where costs can quickly add up, Cardinal Hotel St. Peter fits the bill. It also appeals to those who want a decent breakfast to start their day, without expecting gourmet offerings. On the other hand, those seeking immaculate cleanliness or precise control over room temperature might want to look elsewhere. If you plan to explore Rome beyond the Vatican, the distance from other major attractions might also be a drawback, leading to a need for extra planning that some guests may want to avoid.

The Verdict

Our Take

Cardinal Hotel St. Peter offers a friendly atmosphere and a prime location near the Vatican, making it a solid choice for travelers looking to explore Rome. The spacious rooms and good breakfast add to the appeal, especially in a city where value can be hard to come by. However, inconsistent cleanliness and frustrating air conditioning can detract from the experience. If you prioritize a helpful staff and convenience over perfection, this hotel is worth considering.
