Since I was there last year, when we all arrived felt like home! Breakfast was yummy and this time we arrived twice and they let me use the same room on my return back to Rome before my 2nd cruise.

Beautiful city perfect location great central hotel

This is a lovely hotel, after reading some of the reviews I was a little concerned however I didn’t need to be. The location of this hotel is absolutely perfect it’s so central we could walk to so many attractions and lovely restaurants it enabled us to be in the heart of Rome throughout our trip. Opposite the parliament building police are present 24 hours which is lovely for security however we felt safe everywhere. Room was huge as was the bathroom. Yes it’s a little dated but nothing that made us feel it wasn’t a quality hotel. I would like to mention housekeeping as I’m not sure they always get the recognition they were superb! Our room was beautifully clean everyday. Breakfast on the roof terrace overlooking Rome was lovely. Continental style which was all we needed to start the day and appreciated as Rome is expensive so it saved us having to take time out of our day finding places to eat for breakfast. We wanted to spend all our time out and about and didn’t spend much time in the hotel or the room as we didn’t visit Rome for this reason. We wanted central, comfortable and convenient and this hotel ticked all the requirements we wanted. If you want to be central staying in a clean comfortable hotel this hotel is perfect. Only thing that wasn’t good WiFi is rubbish in the rooms but fine in the main hotel. We really couldn’t get WiFi in the hotel room so I would suggest plenty of data if you want great wifi in your room we really couldn’t get a good connection. But we didn’t want to spend time in our room we wanted to spend all our time walking this breathtaking, beautiful city. I would recommend this hotel and sitting outside watching the world go past after a busy day walking around the city was perfect. Want a really great central location within the beautiful parliament squire this is a great hotel we would stay again if we went back.

6Good

Not a 4* hotel

I’ll start with the positives, location is excellent, bar staff are good. Cleaners are good. However this is not a 4 star hotel, the internet is poor, reception useless, breakfast is terrible. How can an Italian hotel serve such poor disgusting coffee is beyond me. The whole hotel is in need of refurbishment. The shower is rubbish, the drain in the bath smelled disgusting. I would not return or recommend.

3Poor

Stayed 1 night and cancelled the further 9 nights with a penalty and found another hotel

Beds were comfortable. Breakfast was great. Room was large.
Tub/shower combination entry/exit was extremely dangerous with no grab bars. Seniors and physically challenged people would be endangered Rooms are far overheated. If you open the windows to cool the room down you can be greeted, as we were, by some protest speaker with a power equipped microphone/amplifier/speaker system screaming for 5 hours late in the afternoon. Complaints to the desk resulted in us being told that there was nothing they could do about it, which was true, and here is a package of foam earplugs. Didn’t seem very concerned because this is a regular occurrence
Guests consistently praise the Colonna Palace Hotel for its excellent location and comfortable accommodations, often highlighting the cleanliness and helpfulness of the staff. However, complaints frequently point to inadequate WiFi, dated facilities, and subpar breakfast quality, with some guests feeling that the hotel does not meet its four-star rating.

Who Should Stay Here?

Travelers who prioritize location will appreciate Colonna Palace Hotel. Its central spot puts you within walking distance of Rome's must-see attractions, making sightseeing straightforward. Those who enjoy friendly service will find the bar staff a breath of fresh air, creating a pleasant atmosphere for unwinding after a day of exploration. The fantastic views from the roof terrace also add a nice touch to your morning routine. On the other hand, guests who value comfort and cleanliness should consider looking elsewhere. Many have reported outdated furnishings and cleanliness issues that can detract from the overall experience. If you need a good night's sleep or expect a hearty breakfast, you might find yourself disappointed here. This hotel is not for the discerning traveler who waits for quality in every aspect of their stay.

The Verdict

Our Take

Colonna Palace Hotel offers a prime location that makes exploring Rome a breeze. The friendly bar staff and stunning roof terrace for breakfast enhance your stay. However, the outdated room quality and cleanliness issues cannot be overlooked. For those prioritizing location over luxury, this hotel is a reasonable choice, but be prepared to seek breakfast elsewhere.
