Pros & Cons

What works
  • The location is fantastic, putting you within walking distance of major attractions like the Sydney Opera House and Queen Victoria Building. This means you can save time and money on transport while immersing yourself in the city's vibrancy.
  • The staff is friendly and attentive, often going the extra mile to accommodate requests. Their local knowledge can help you discover hidden gems in Sydney.
  • The hotel maintains a clean environment, which enhances your overall comfort during your stay. You can relax knowing that the rooms and common areas are well cared for.
  • The charm of the hotel is palpable, with its historical architecture and decor. This sense of history adds character and can make your stay feel more special.
  • The air conditioning in the rooms works effectively, keeping you comfortable during the warmer months. After a long day exploring the city, returning to a cool room is a definite plus.
  • The live jazz music on Friday nights creates a pleasant, relaxed atmosphere in the bar area. It’s a nice way to unwind and soak in the local culture after a busy day.
  • The continental breakfast provides a good selection of options, allowing you to start your day on a satisfying note. A well-cooked breakfast can set you up for a day of sightseeing.
What doesn't
  • The room sizes can be on the smaller side, which might feel cramped if you're traveling with a lot of luggage or just prefer more space to move around.
  • Breakfast options are somewhat limited, which can be disappointing if you're looking for a heartier meal or variety during your stay. You might find yourself craving more choices.
  • Some rooms can be noisy, particularly those facing Castlereagh Street. If you're a light sleeper, this could disrupt your rest after a long day.
  • The facilities feel a bit dated, which may detract from the overall experience if you value modern amenities and a fresh ambiance. It can be a letdown if you expect a more contemporary feel.
  • The exposed threshold to the bathroom can be inconvenient, especially if you're traveling with kids or elderly guests. It could pose a minor tripping hazard.

Definitely will stay here again. Really cosy place.

The bed was the softest I've ever slept on. Would have loved to spend longer get and explore nearby and the hotel itself. Super quiet inside despite being right in the middle of the city. We stayed in one of the newly renovated rooms. The entry is so beautiful photos don't do it justice.
One of the mugs were dirty. The rest of the place was spotless though so it must have been an oversight.
