Pros & Cons

What works
  • The staff is genuinely friendly, which makes a huge difference when you're navigating a busy city. Their willingness to help can turn a stressful travel day into a smoother experience.
  • The location can't be beat. You're just a short walk from Circular Quay and the Opera House, making it easy to explore Sydney's iconic sites and enjoy numerous dining options nearby.
  • The breakfast is a standout. With options ranging from fresh pastries to hearty hot dishes, it sets a great tone for your day without needing to venture out.
  • Rooms are spacious, giving you enough room to spread out and relax after a long day of sightseeing. A bit of extra space can make your stay feel more comfortable and less cramped.
  • The hotel is conveniently located near the overseas terminal, making it an excellent pick if you're embarking on a cruise. This saves you time and hassle when you're in transit.
  • The coffee and drink area has a cozy vibe with comfortable seating, perfect for winding down after a day of exploring. It’s a nice spot to relax, read, or chat with friends.
  • The executive lounge offers some nice perks, especially if you're lucky enough to visit during Happy Hour. Although the selection can be limited, the service from staff like Kyra and Amelia makes it a pleasant experience.
What doesn't
  • Many rooms are showing signs of wear and tear, which is frustrating for a five-star hotel. You might expect a fresher ambiance for the price you pay.
  • There are occasional cleanliness issues, which can cast a shadow over your stay. Arriving to a room that feels less than pristine can be disappointing.
  • Housekeeping can be inconsistent, with some guests noting that service may not arrive until late in the day. This can complicate your plans if you're hoping to return to a clean room after sightseeing.
  • The restaurant service can be disorganized during busy times, which detracts from the overall dining experience. Waiting longer than expected for service in a hotel restaurant can be frustrating.
  • Some rooms may have lingering odors, like smoke, that can be off-putting. This can make settling in uncomfortable, especially after a long journey.
  • The value for money may feel off if you compare your experience to what you would expect from a luxury hotel. You might find you’re not getting as much for your dollar here.

10Exceptional

Very convenient stay for cruise attendees and tourist.

We came because of a cruise. The hotel was walking distance from the cruise port and most of the shopping areas. The hotel was super clean. The rooms were very spacious and modern. Booking.com placed us on the elite floor! The breakfast was amazing! So many options for the price we paid. Overall we had an amazing experience.
We stayed again after returning from the cruise but that booking was through Marriott. We paid almost double than what we paid through booking.com. Checking in was not as seamless as the first time and Marriott didn't put us on the elite floor like booking.com did!

Who Should Stay Here?

The Sydney Harbour Marriott Hotel at Circular Quay is a solid choice for travelers who prioritize location and service. If you enjoy being close to major attractions like the Opera House and Circular Quay, this hotel puts you right in the heart of it all. Friendly staff enhance the experience, making it easier to navigate the bustling city. The generous breakfast offerings cater to various tastes and provide a good start to your day, while spacious rooms allow you to unwind after exploring. However, if you expect flawless accommodations and pristine cleanliness at a five-star price, you might want to consider other options. Many rooms show signs of wear and the housekeeping service lacks consistency. Guests might find themselves disappointed if they prefer a high standard of maintenance and organization, especially in the restaurant during peak hours. If luxury and attention to detail are your priorities, this hotel may not meet your expectations.
