Pros & Cons

What works
  • The location is stellar, just a short walk to attractions like Luna Park and the Sydney Harbour Bridge. You can easily explore the waterfront and immerse yourself in the city's vibrant atmosphere without needing a car.
  • The views are genuinely stunning. Waking up to a panorama of the Harbour Bridge and the sparkling water will make your morning coffee feel like a scene from a postcard.
  • Rooms are comfortable and well-appointed, which means you can unwind after a long day of sightseeing. A good mattress can make all the difference when you’re tackling a packed itinerary.
  • The staff are friendly and genuinely helpful. Their willingness to assist with local tips or reservations can elevate your stay, making you feel more connected to the city.
  • The accessibility to public transport is a major plus. Being near a train station means you can hop on and off to explore the greater Sydney area without hassle.
  • The on-site restaurant offers a decent menu and a pleasant atmosphere. It's a convenient option if you want to enjoy a meal without venturing far after a long day.
  • The hotel is well-maintained and clean, allowing you to feel comfortable in your space. Clean facilities can significantly enhance your overall experience.
What doesn't
  • Noise from the trains can be disruptive, especially on the lower floors. If you're a light sleeper, consider requesting a room on a higher floor for a quieter experience.
  • Some areas of the hotel show signs of aging. Although the main facilities are fine, outdated furniture can detract from the overall comfort and appeal of your stay.
  • Dinner service can be surprisingly slow, which is frustrating if you're hungry after a long day. It's best to plan for this and give yourself extra time to eat.
  • The bathrooms are on the smaller side. For travelers who prioritize space and convenience, this might feel cramped, especially during morning routines.
  • Some staff members, particularly in the breakfast area, could use improvement in service efficiency. Waiting too long for simple requests can be annoying, especially when you’re in a hurry.

Great stay, great location!

Location was great
Taxi ordered from reception to the Opera House was expensive, $15 dearer compared to our return taxi that included a night rate!

Great Location, Thoroughly Recommended

The location was perfect, the meals were delicious (we had breakfast every day and dinner twice). The view of Sydney Harbour Bridge was amazing at night as was the view at breakfast. The staff were unfailingly pleasant, helpful and courteous and we actually enjoyed the sound of the trains going under the hotel. The hotel is a short walk from the Bridge and we would definitely stay here again.
The first impression of the room was that it was a bit basic and could do with a refurb. That said, it was very clean and the bathroom seemed more recently done. It had a large shower with a toilet and basin. There were tea and coffee facilities and large fluffy white towels. There was also a safe and an ironing board.

It’s a ferry ride to Circular Quay. But beautiful views and a nice area without masses of tourists. Easy access with a c

Lovely views of the harbour bridge. Room not massive but well equipped.
Guests consistently praise the stunning views of Sydney Harbour and the hotel's prime location near key attractions. However, many complaints center around the size of the bathrooms, which guests find cramped despite being clean and functional. Some also mention that the rooms feel basic and could benefit from updates.

Who Should Stay Here?

View Sydney offers great value for tourists eager to explore the city. Its prime location near major attractions like Luna Park and the Sydney Harbour Bridge lets guests dive into Sydney's vibrant atmosphere without needing a car. The stunning views from the rooms make mornings feel special, while the comfortable accommodations help you recharge after a busy day. Friendly and helpful staff can enhance your experience even further with their local insights. However, those who prioritize quietness may want to look elsewhere. Noise from the trains can be disruptive on lower floors, so light sleepers should opt for higher rooms. Additionally, travelers seeking modern facilities might find some areas of the hotel showing their age, along with smaller bathrooms that could feel cramped. If you need space or attentive dinner service, you might want to consider other options.

The Verdict

Our Take

View Sydney delivers a remarkable experience with its prime location and breathtaking views of the Harbour Bridge. The comfortable rooms and attentive staff enhance your stay, making sightseeing a breeze. However, light sleepers may struggle with noise from the trains, and some furnishings could use an update. If you can overlook the dinner service delays and opt for a higher floor, this hotel is a solid choice for an unforgettable Sydney getaway.
