Pros & Cons

What works
  • The location is fantastic, sitting on a quiet street in Marylebone, yet just a short walk from the bustling Oxford Street and Bond Street tube station, making it easy to explore all of London.
  • The staff make a real effort to be helpful and friendly, which adds a personal touch to your stay and makes you feel welcome after a day of sightseeing.
  • The breakfast selection is impressive, offering a variety of tasty options that can set you up for a day of exploring the city.
  • The decor is stylish without being over the top, creating a comfortable atmosphere that feels both modern and inviting.
  • The rooms are equipped with blackout curtains and comfortable beds, ensuring you get a good night's sleep, which is essential after a long day out.
What doesn't
  • Cleanliness could be better; some guests reported finding hair and dust in their rooms, which can be off-putting when you're trying to relax.
  • The rooms can feel a bit small, especially for travelers with multiple bags, making it challenging to maneuver comfortably.
  • There are some inconsistencies with service, such as not getting bathroom supplies replenished or receiving a missing bathrobe, which can detract from the overall experience.
  • The smart TV's limited app selection can be frustrating, especially if you're hoping to unwind with your favorite shows after a long day.
  • The value for money is questionable, considering some amenities are lacking, like a free minibar that offers only water without any snacks.

Guests consistently praise The Welbeck Hotel for its excellent location, friendly staff, and comfortable accommodations. The outstanding breakfast and cleanliness of the rooms also receive high marks. However, some reviews lack specific complaints, indicating a generally positive experience without significant drawbacks.

Who Should Stay Here?

The Welbeck Hotel suits travelers who prioritize location and a warm atmosphere. Its position in Marylebone provides easy access to London's main attractions while allowing guests to retreat to a quieter street. Friendly staff enhance the experience, making it a solid choice for those who appreciate personal touches during their stay. The breakfast selection helps fuel days filled with exploration, appealing to tourists ready to tackle the city. However, those looking for spacious rooms or immaculate cleanliness might want to consider other options. Guests with multiple bags may find the rooms cramped, and reports of unclean spaces can put a damper on a relaxing stay. Additionally, inconsistent service regarding room supplies could frustrate anyone expecting a seamless experience. If luxury and meticulous attention to detail are your priorities, you may not find what you're looking for here.

The Verdict

Our Take

The Welbeck Hotel delivers a solid experience with its prime location in Marylebone, friendly staff, and an impressive breakfast that fuels your day in London. However, the cleanliness issues and small room sizes can be bothersome, especially for those traveling with more luggage. If you can overlook these shortcomings, the hotel's charm and convenience make it a worthwhile stay. I recommend it for those who prioritize location and a welcoming atmosphere over absolute perfection.
