Pros & Cons

What works
  • The staff here are genuinely friendly and attentive. They go out of their way to assist with everything from last-minute restaurant reservations to navigating the city.
  • The rooms are spacious and feature unique period furniture. This adds a charming character that makes your stay feel less like a hotel and more like a stylish retreat.
  • The hotel's design is stunning, with elegant architecture and high ceilings that create a welcoming atmosphere. It's a feast for the eyes and adds to the overall experience.
  • The location in the Financial District means you are close to major attractions and subway lines. This convenience allows for easy exploration of the city without the hassle of long commutes.
  • Temple Court, the hotel's restaurant, offers delicious food that shouldn't be missed. The atmosphere, enhanced by live jazz during brunch, creates a memorable dining experience.
  • Check-in is smooth and efficient, eliminating the stress that can come with arriving at a busy hotel. This sets a positive tone for the rest of your stay.
  • The comfortable beds contribute to a restful night’s sleep. After a long day of sightseeing, you’ll appreciate the quality of your accommodations.
What doesn't
  • Noise can be an issue, especially in a bustling area like the Financial District. Light sleepers may want to request a quieter room or bring earplugs.
  • Some guests have noted the hairdryer provided is on the cheaper side. If styling your hair is a priority, it might be worth bringing your own.
  • Experiences with room service have been mixed, with some guests finding it lacking in quality and promptness. Consider dining at Temple Court instead for a better meal.
  • The lighting in the rooms could be brighter. If you need excellent lighting for reading or working, you might want to plan accordingly.
  • The hotel is situated in an older building, which means you might encounter quirks typical of historic architecture. While charming, this could impact your overall comfort.

Pleasant 2 night getaway.

The rooms are great, spacious and rather unique, with period piece furniture. The restaurant is very very good, a Tom Colichio restaurant. The lighting in the room could be a bit brighter.

Beautiful, charming, understated ... surpasses expectations in every way!

This hotel surpassed my expectations. The hotel has beautiful and charming architecture, kind, knowledgeable and inviting staff, and an exquisite cocktail bar and restaurant. I loved the way the rooms felt warm, understated and cozy, with very high ceilings. It felt like an elegant home away from home. I can't wait to go again and have been telling all of my clients, family and friends about the Beekman.

Can't wait to be back here our next trip to NYC

The Beekman Hotel is one of those rare New York stays that actually feels special the moment you walk in. The nine-story Victorian atrium is absolutely stunning, grand, dramatic, and unmistakably classic NYC, yet the hotel still manages to feel intimate and warm rather than overwhelming. Rooms are beautifully designed with a refined, old-world elegance: rich textures, thoughtful details, and a sense of calm that’s especially welcome after a long day in the city. Service throughout the hotel is attentive and polished without ever feeling stiff. The location is another major plus, right in Lower Manhattan with easy access to downtown, Brooklyn, and multiple subway lines. Whether you’re in town for work or a weekend escape, the Beekman strikes a near-perfect balance between historic charm and modern luxury. A truly memorable stay and easily one of the most distinctive hotels in New York.

8Excellent
Location was amazing, and the staff were great. Happening bar area.
Expensive, more of a symptom of nyc in general.
Guests consistently praise The Beekman for its stunning architecture, unique room designs, and attentive staff. The hotel's location in Lower Manhattan and its excellent restaurant also receive positive mentions. However, common complaints include uncomfortable pillows and the high price tag, which many attribute to the general cost of staying in New York City.

Who Should Stay Here?

The Beekman is a strong choice for travelers who appreciate attentive service and unique character. Couples seeking a romantic getaway or business travelers needing a stylish retreat will find the spacious rooms and elegant design appealing. The hotel's location in the Financial District offers easy access to major attractions and subway lines, making it convenient for those who want to explore the city without the hassle of long commutes. If you enjoy a visually stunning environment and personalized assistance, this hotel will exceed your expectations. On the other hand, light sleepers might want to consider other options. The noise from the bustling Financial District can disrupt restful nights. Additionally, if you prioritize high-quality room service or need excellent lighting for work, you may not find what you're looking for here. Guests who rely heavily on specific amenities, like a top-notch hairdryer, should also look elsewhere to avoid disappointment.
