Pros & Cons

What works
  • The staff here are genuinely friendly and attentive. Whether you’re dealing with the front desk or grabbing a bite in the restaurant, expect warm service that makes you feel welcomed.
  • The location is excellent, just minutes from Vanderbilt University and the hospital. This is a huge perk if you have appointments or events nearby, as you won't waste time in traffic.
  • The rooms are consistently clean and comfortable. You can count on a tidy space to relax after a busy day exploring Nashville or attending to business.
  • The on-site restaurant, The Commodore, offers live music performances in the evening. This adds a unique touch to your dining experience and gives you a taste of Nashville's vibrant music scene without leaving the hotel.
  • The hotel provides a complimentary shuttle service to nearby attractions. This is particularly useful if you want to explore the city without the hassle of parking.
What doesn't
  • Expect additional fees for parking, which can add up quickly. While it’s common in urban areas, it’s still an unwelcome surprise when you’re budgeting for your stay.
  • There have been recurring complaints about inconsistent hot water for showers. Cold showers can be a real letdown, especially after a long day or for those recovering from medical procedures.
  • Cleaning issues have been noted in common areas. Maintaining cleanliness in shared spaces like lobbies and hallways can impact your overall impression of the hotel.
  • The rooms can feel small, especially if you’re traveling with multiple people. If you plan to spend a lot of time in your room, consider this when booking.

The best stay and dining experience!

My experience at the Holiday Inn Vanderbilt was one of the best I’ve had thus far. From the live band to Madalyn being the best server, it was an absolute blast! She gave us some great recommendations! We will be back for the food, music, & for Madalyn’s service!!

We liked the view. The room was clean and comfortable even if small. We truly appreciated the fact that they did not put us into a shabby room just because we traveled with our dog. Their restaurant has live country music performances every evening.
We had to pay for the parking and it was not cheap.

Best Hotel Staff… HANDS DOWN!!

My friend booked out stay a month or so ago for her birthday weekend. Then, the ice storm hit many states, including Nashville, TN, the weekend before we were to arrive. Upon getting into our room (Thursday night), there was barely any warm water. We contacted the front desk and I spoke with Carson. He was super polite, helpful and explained there was an issue with their boiler. I then spoke with Keniya (Friday) and later Hervie (manager on Saturday) and they each shared the same story about the broken boiler being the culprit for no hot water. Despite the hotel being at full capacity (many residents were without power so they came to the hotel), the lobby being busy and full of pet dogs, Hervie, Keniya and Carson were super agents!! 😂They never flinched, kept their professional composures and held things down like pros!! 😁😂 Every interaction I had with them & observed between them and others, Hervie, Keniya and Carson were always nice, polite and professional. Hervie is a hoot!! Great personality!! And we had great interactions with the security crew: Clay (so awesome), Calvin, Zach, and the shuttle driver, Lewis. Also, one of the room service agents was so sweet (I didn’t get a chance to see her name badge, but short, Spanish, dark black hair in a bob cut & was working around 1pm on Saturday on the 8th floor). Also, the host in the restaurant during happy hour on Friday (short, white guy with glasses and a mustache) was helpful and nice, as well. It was BRICK COLD outside and the hotel was BUSY, but despite it all, the entire staff was always so kind, helpful and courteous. My friend and I will hopefully be back in Nashville this summer and will definitely stay here again! Many, many thanks to the whole staff for being so on their game when the city of Nashville was covered in ice and snow!! Also, despite the overload of pets there with their owners, the hotel was always quiet and never smelled like any animals were there! That was HUGE! (I gave 4 stars instead of 5 solely because we were there for 3 nights and had hot water once (cold showers are brutal!! lol). 😬🥶)
Guests consistently praise the cleanliness and friendliness of the staff at Holiday Inn Nashville - Vanderbilt - Dwtn. Many highlight the excellent service received from individual staff members, especially in the restaurant, along with the enjoyable atmosphere created by live music. However, complaints frequently center around issues with hot water and parking fees, indicating that while the service is commendable, some operational aspects could use improvement.

Who Should Stay Here?

Families visiting Vanderbilt University or the nearby hospital will find great value here. The staff's friendly service and the clean, comfortable rooms provide a welcoming base for your stay. The on-site restaurant adds a local flavor to your experience, complete with live music that makes dining enjoyable. Additionally, the convenient location saves time on transportation, particularly for those attending events or appointments. Travelers seeking spacious accommodations or those who prioritize modern amenities might want to consider other options. The rooms are on the small side, which can be a drawback for larger groups. Inconsistent hot water and cleanliness issues in common areas may also deter guests who expect a more polished experience. For those willing to overlook these quirks, the hotel offers a decent value in the heart of Nashville.
