Pros & Cons

What works
  • The staff is genuinely friendly and helpful, making it easy to ask for local recommendations or assistance during your stay.
  • Rooms are spacious, allowing for more than just a place to sleep. You can spread out your belongings or enjoy some downtime without feeling cramped.
  • The cleanliness of the hotel is impressive. Returning to a tidy room after a long day of exploring is a refreshing experience.
  • Some rooms offer a view of San Pietro Basilica, which can be a lovely way to start or end your day in Rome.
  • The location is slightly outside the city center, which means less noise and crowds, providing a more peaceful environment after a day of sightseeing.
  • The hotel is affordable compared to other options in Rome, making it a good choice for budget-conscious travelers who still want decent accommodations.
What doesn't
  • The breakfast quality leaves much to be desired; the limited selection and stale pastries can make it hard to start your day on a good note.
  • Some room features are outdated, which can detract from the overall comfort and enjoyment of your stay.
  • The dinner options lack variety and flavor, which is disappointing after a long day exploring the city.
  • The gym facilities are minimal, so if you are someone who prioritizes working out, you might find the offerings inadequate.
  • The lack of basic amenities like mugs or glasses in the room can lead to frustrating moments, especially when you just want to enjoy a cup of tea after a long day.

The nearby Parco della Pineta Sacchetti offers green space for a leisurely walk or a moment of relaxation, which can feel like a breath of fresh air amidst the urban backdrop. 10Exceptional
We had a view oriented to the San Pietro Basilica which was nice. The room was immaculate, the TV is above your hotel standards and the bed was very comfortable. A place to consider if you re looking for non central, affordable and high quality accommodation.
The shower booth could be bigger but it was not a real problem, just the only thing i can think about

Bring your own teabags

This is not 4 star quality. We are on a half board deal. The food is poor. Breakfast is limited and very sweet. The three course evening meal is served, there is no choice or flexibility, and it is disappointing. The room has a kettle but no mugs, glasses or coffee etc. This afternoon I asked for a teabag - freely available at breakfast - and was charged €3. Very disappointed.

Stay elsewhere

The hotel staff were unfriendly. The room was passable. The food was inedible. We had a group of 26 and 1 server. The dinner was a starter of pasta slopped into a bowl, there was 1 piece of stale bread each. This was followed by a main which looked totally unappealing. It was meatloaf and 1 potato, no vegetables or salad. The desert wasn't particularly nice either. Breakfast, there were rarely cups or tea. The juice machine ran out. There was 1 toaster for 4 pieces of bread, which took ages. There were yoghurt, cheese and meat. Once the pastries ran out they didn't replace them. There were a few horrible looking apples but no other fresh fruit. We stayed 5 nights but only ate dinner 3 times as it was so awful, not what you want after a full day out in Rome
Guests frequently praise the cleanliness of the rooms and the pleasant views, particularly those facing the San Pietro Basilica. However, complaints about the dining experience, including the poor quality of food and limited options, are prevalent. Many also note the location as a drawback, being farther from central attractions than expected.

Who Should Stay Here?

Hotel Pineta Palace appeals to families and travelers who prioritize space and cleanliness. The generous room sizes allow families to spread out comfortably, making it easier to manage luggage and relax after exploring. Friendly staff enhance the experience by providing local insights and assistance, which can be invaluable for first-time visitors to Rome. If you want a base to return to after a busy day without feeling cramped, this hotel delivers. On the other hand, those seeking a culinary experience or modern amenities may want to look elsewhere. The breakfast and dinner options fall short, lacking variety and freshness. Fitness enthusiasts will be disappointed by the limited gym facilities. If a vibrant dining scene or a top-notch workout space is high on your list, you might want to explore other accommodations in the city.

The Verdict

Our Take
