The cleaning staff were pleasant and efficient and the room was cleaned reach day. The front desk staff was friendly and efficient.
One of the elevators wasn't working and there were often l Iong waits. It was a longer walk to the subway station too.

8Excellent
Stayed as a family of 4 with 2 teenagers. Great location, within reasonable walking distance to subways. Bed was comfy and view from our hotel bedroom was amazing, especially in the evening. Loved the free coffee machine.
The hotel is a little tired in places. Breakfast was chaos, not enough space provided for the number of guests. But to be fair we did eat every morning and managed to navigate it. I think the price reflects the comprimises at this hotel, so it didnt feel too unfair. You get what you pay for and it's a good budget option.

Probably won't be back.

Good price for Manhattan.
I was there in January and the room had no heat. It took multiple calls to reception to get it fixed. Oh, and there was a shooting up the street and the police locked down the block preventing people from coming and going for a few hours. The next morning, construction started at the hotel at 9am.
Guests frequently praise the friendly and efficient staff, particularly the cleaning team and front desk personnel. However, complaints often center around logistical issues such as long elevator waits, cramped room sizes, and chaos during breakfast service. Some guests also reported problems with heating and customer service, indicating a need for improvements in these areas.

Who Should Stay Here?

Budget-conscious travelers will find value here, especially those looking to explore New York City without breaking the bank. The friendly staff enhances the experience, offering local tips that can lead to memorable adventures. The hotel’s location allows for easy access to major attractions and the subway, ensuring you can see a lot without spending much on transportation. After a day of exploration, the comfortable rooms provide a much-needed respite. On the other hand, those seeking a pristine environment or a quiet retreat should consider other options. Cleanliness issues have been reported, which can be a dealbreaker for meticulous guests. Additionally, the chaotic breakfast scene might frustrate anyone who prefers a calm start to their day. If noise is a concern, particularly from the lobby or street, you may want to look elsewhere for a more peaceful stay.

The Verdict

Our Take

The Holiday Inn Express Manhattan Midtown West provides a solid base for exploring New York City with its friendly staff and convenient location. Comfortable rooms and a free coffee machine are definite perks, but the chaotic breakfast scene and cleanliness issues cannot be overlooked. If you prioritize location and staff support over perfect accommodations, this hotel is worth considering. However, if a peaceful night's sleep is a must for you, it might be wise to look elsewhere.
